One geometry, several replies

Each factory is asked to price the footprint the buyer wrote. If one reply adds an interior column or shortens a module, that reply is tagged as a substitution before anyone talks about a smaller total.

Ask for reactions at the foundation interface, the anchor layout, and the calculations that match the quoted geometry. A general mention of AISC 360 or AWS D1.1 is a request, not a statement that this desk or an unnamed plant already holds a certificate.

Commercial lines stay visible

Freight, taxes, unloading, and site work sit on their own rows. Currency and a per-unit or whole-order budget remain optional buyer notes. They are not a live quotation and they are not a verified supplier grade.

Scope questions

Which costs must each supplier quote?

The supplier should price the written geometry and mark shell, freight, installation, foundation, and utilities as included, excluded, or optional. A single lump figure with no split cannot be set beside a shell-only figure.

What if the destination changes the route?

A 12 ft transport envelope can pass a gate that a wider volumetric box cannot. Ask the supplier to state the shipping width and who provides the crane. Do not assume the plant photo shows the route limit.

Document questions

Which file belongs to this building?

Request drawings, material notes, and any test report for the exact system, plant, and project jurisdiction. IAS AC472 or ISO 9001 language on a homepage is not evidence for the unit in the quote.

Who accepts the code path?

The buyer and the project professionals retain that decision. GridPoint Sourcing can list the questions. It does not tell an authority having jurisdiction that a module complies.

Commercial questions

Can a budget be sent before a quote exists?

Yes. An optional amount, a currency, and a per-unit or whole-order basis can ride with the requirement. The desk does not treat that note as a market comparison or as a promise of a result.

What does a supplier preference mean?

High-end, mid-range, budget, or not yet decided is the buyer view of finish and service. It is not a grade the desk has audited.

Send the requirement that factories should answer

Include the reference being compared, the use, the size, the jurisdiction, the quantity, and the destination. Open exclusions should stay visible.

  • Name shell, delivered, installed, or turnkey.
  • Separate freight from the module or frame.
  • Ask for the drawing set that matches the quote.
  • Leave code acceptance with the project team.
